In 2001, Delphi Product & Service Solutions (DPSS) exhibited at the Automotive Aftermarket Parts Expo (AAPEX) for the first time. Over the past five years, its customer base has grown along with its product portfolio. At a press conference held Tuesday, Oct. 31, DPSS marked the occasion with a birthday cake celebrating its 5th year in the U.S. Independent Aftermarket (IAM).
DPSS also announced the introduction of eight new products during the 2006 AAPEX show held Oct. 31 – Nov. 2 in Las Vegas.
“We wanted to recognize this milestone, saying ‘thank you’ to the industry, and especially our customers, for their support,” said Dave Barbeau, Global Director of the IAM PBU. “When we first came to this show, we really had no customers or products and we now enjoy over 7,000 customers and over 40 product lines in the North American IAM.”
DPSS announced new part numbers for its compressor and condenser lines that cover Ford, Toyota, Honda and Chrysler applications. Also, it announced a new blower motor product offering. The complete blower motor kit eliminates the hassle of modifying the vehicle or harnesses.
Looking toward the future, the company announced that it is expanding its distribution of diesel products in an effort to be positioned to meet the emerging needs of the North American aftermarket as it services and repairs diesel-powered vehicles.
On the engine management side, DPSS announced that it is adding Ford and Chrysler applications to its remanufactured engine control module/powertrain control module (ECM/PCM) lineup with 160 part numbers, covering light vehicles, model years 1996-2004. Also, DPSS introduced a new line of planar technology oxygen sensors.
For technicians and shops, DPSS stated that it has expanded its TechSource line of training products to include a comprehensive suite of original equipment (OE)-based support services, tools and equipment. In addition, Delphi introduced two new personal digital assistant-based products, an Air-Conditioning Analyzer and a PocketScan diagnostic tool.
“As a company that can supply most major OE vehicle systems, Delphi is well positioned to bring the OE products, services and tools the automotive aftermarket needs to compete in today’s aftermarket,” said Frank Ordoñez, president, DPSS. “Consistent with the company’s growth in non-GM business, at this year’s show we are announcing a host of products for non-GM applications.”
For the third year in a row, Delphi NASCAR driver Kyle Busch was in the Delphi booth signing autographs on Wednesday, Nov. 1. In addition to the autograph signings, Kyle was available at a customer event held that evening, where he was able to interact with key customers in the industry.
Delphi newest consumer electronics products were also on display at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) 2006 show at the nearby Las Vegas Convention Center.
The SKYFi3, the latest XM Satellite radio receiver, was released to the public Oct. 17, and was on display in the XM Satellite Radio booth at SEMA. The SKYFi3 is 65 percent smaller than its successors, yet maintains nearly every benefit of the previous generation product. SKYFi3 offers an optimum balance of compact size, screen readability and portability outside the vehicle.
Delphi’s first portable navigation device, the NAV200, was also on display at the NAVIGON and NAVTEQ booths at SEMA. The NAV200 offers the budget conscious customer a unique blend of advanced navigation and entertainment features in a sleek, portable package. Ready to go right out of the box, the NAV200 installs in just two simple steps and comes with U.S. and Canada maps already pre-loaded on a SD card. The NAV200 powerful processor quickly calculates routes using one of the most trusted mapping databases in the industry.
